In this prerecorded webinar, participants are introduced to an Intermediate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) training designed to address the unique needs of communities experiencing persistent interpersonal and systemic trauma, including racism and poverty. The course presents an ACT-informed trauma protocol grounded in psychological flexibility, focusing on Open (willingness and defusion), Aware (mindfulness and perspective taking), and Engaged (values clarification and values-based committed action) processes. Through guided practice, participants apply modified ACT skills that enhance present-moment awareness and personal empowerment through Polyvagal-informed practices, while also addressing systemic trauma by deepening awareness of generational trauma, identifying sources of generational healing and wisdom, and exploring valued action at both interpersonal and community levels. Using a combination of didactic instruction, clinical vignettes, and experiential exercises, participants gain practical, trauma-focused psychological flexibility skills to support individuals impacted by trauma in moving from surviving to thriving.

3 contact hours for NYSED Licensed Social Workers and Psychologists (NYSED)

AFFIRM Mental Health, LLC is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work and the State Board for Psychology as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0695 and licensed psychologists (PSY-0196).

3.25 Continuing Education Credits (NBCC)

AFFIRM Mental Health LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7580. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. AFFIRM Mental Health LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

3.50 Continuing Education Credits (ASWB)

AFFIRM Mental Health LLC #1929, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) provider.

Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period is 7/18/2025-7/18/2028. Courses that do not qualify for CE credit with ASWB are clearly indicated.
