With degrees in Intercultural Communication Through Theater and Social Work, along with an AMI Elementary Education Certificate, Erin has contributed to various ACT protocols for families, including high school mentorship programs, parents of emerging adults, and adolescents with depression, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her extensive background also includes serving on the ACBS Midatlantic Chapter board, enhancing the use of ACT in clinical and research contexts.

About Our Guest:

Erin Pressman LCSW-C is a clinical social worker, and owner of Lodestar Wellness LLC. She works in several contexts including True North Therapy and Consulting and The Center for Developmental and Behavioral Health at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Communication Through Theater from University of Maryland Baltimore County, an AMI Elementary Education Certificate from Centro Internazionale Studi Montessoriani, a Masters of Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore and is also a certified children’s yoga instructor. Erin’s work focuses on children, teens, and their families in multiple contexts and she works clinically via individual, group, and family sessions using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

In her work she has developed and administered a variety of ACT protocols including ACT for Persistence in two Baltimore City high school mentorship programs, ACT for Parents of Emerging Adults, and ACT for Adolescents. In addition, she conducts research for ACT for Adolescents with Depression in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her current projects include an ACT for Adolescents with Depression individual treatment research project and collaborating on using ACT with Teens and Substance Use in different contexts. She currently serves on the board for ACBS Midatlantic Chapter.

Erin also enjoys training other professionals in how to use ACT for children, teens, and parents. She regularly presents Introduction to ACT, ACT for Parents, ACT for Teachers and runs consult groups which focus on applying ACT. She holds the belief that therapy is meant to be a collaboration between clinicians and families to help them determine meaningful ways to live life in a variety of environments.
